For example, there are a lot of new people who start out on eBay each month. eBay is an intensely price-competitive place to do business. Selling a few things out of your attic and garage is one thing. Those are unique (generally one of a kind) products and you don’t have to make a set profit on them because you really don’t care how much you sell them for. They’re “free”. They’ve been sitting around your attic collecting dust, and you don’t have to pay for them in order to sell them.
Once the products in the attic are gone, eBay Sellers are forced to look for something else to sell. Many of them start driving around to garage sales, or looking for local crafts outlets, or buying things on sale at local stores and re-selling them at a profit, etc.
The problem with this approach is that it takes time. Too much time. When all your time is wrapped up in finding products to sell online, you quickly hit a “glass ceiling” made up of “time versus income”. There are only so many hours in the day, and you can only find so many products in a day using this product sourcing method.
The thing that separates the “thousand-aires” from the millionaires online is the knowledge that making real money on the internet means you have to find real suppliers of wholesale products. When you can spend 15 minutes making a phone call to a wholesale product supplier and get 300 products to sell, you’re a lot better off than if you spent 6 hours running around your home town finding 8 products to sell.
The same thing is true for those who sell on Amazon. Selling on Amazon is a lot like renting shelf space in someone else’s department store. If you rent shelf space in a local department store and put 6 products there, they’re going to go largely unnoticed. Even when they do eventually sell, you’re going to have to spend too much time running around looking for 6 more products to put on those shelves. Using a real supplier of wholesale product lets you put a lot of things out there for sale at once, in a very short time. That translates into earning more money more quickly.
And of course, when building your own web store the same thing applies.
Overall, the thing to remember is that finding and using real suppliers of wholesale products is what successful online business owners do to “streamline” their businesses and make real profits.
