As I promised in the first edition of our newsletter, I've been listening closely to all your requests and advice, and we're taking the first major step in fulfilling some of those requests. On November 1st, Worldwide Brands will transition their affiliate program from myAffiliateProgram Version 5 to myAffiliateProgram VERSION 8. Sounds like a big jump doesn't it? Well we've been working with myAP now for several weeks to try to make this transition as smooth as possible. I can hear all the questions (and sighs) simultaneously being asked: What are the benefits? What about all my existing links? What are the downfalls? What is Worldwide Brands doing to help make the transition easier? Why now? What will I need to do? Well let me take all your questions one step at a time.
Question # 1: What are the benefits to the myAP upgrade?
- Paypal Payment options:
The upgrade gives us the ability to offer you PayPal as a form of payment instead of paper checks. If you opt-in to receiving PayPal payments by the end of the year, you will start receiving commission payments in January 2007 to your PayPal account.
- Direct Links to Worldwide Brands: Affiliate Links will no longer point to http://www.myaffiliateprogram/u/worldwid. They will point directly to http:/www.worldwidebrands.com. This is great for Search Engine Optimization. It is also very good for increasing sales conversion, because it is a smoother transition from your links to our website.
- Sub Link Tracking: In the new version, you will be able to setup subid's so that you can track all your statistics for a specific link or PPC campaign.
- New Account Area : The user interface for your account will be more organized, user-friendly and customized to Worldwide Brands. For example, reporting features are enhanced to give you more control over what range of data you would like to see.
Question # 2: What about all my existing links?
All your existing links WILL remain active during the transition. So while you are upgrading your site, rest assured that all your links will continue to set cookies and be recognized by our system and myAP. However, this feature will only be available during the transition period, so I strongly recommend you update your affiliate links as soon as possible.
Question # 3 : Why now? Worldwide Brands is going through some exciting changes in the upcoming months. We want you to have the ability to use the best technologies and have the best tracking methods. Many of the new features that we will be offering require your links to be updated.
Question # 4: What are the downfalls? With every change, there is always something that is a negative. Because everything is changing, the history of all the past transactions in version 5 could not be carried over to the new version. HOWEVER, we found that unacceptable! So, myAP agreed to add a link within your reports area that connects you to your v5 account so that you can look into your past history. Any time that you want to review your statistics from before November 1st, 2006, you will need to select on this link.
Question # 5: What is Worldwide Brands doing to help make the transition easier?
To make the transition easier, the Affiliate Center will be updated to have new tools that make grabbing the code you need easier (similar to what we have in this newsletter). We will also be offering new and fresh banners and a NEW FREE ebook about Product Sourcing that you can use for your site. So instead of just going in and updating links, you can have new fresh material for your site.
Question # 6: Is there anything else I should know?
Please Note: With the upgrade, the existing banners will change. This means that anywhere you have a IMG SRC tag pointing to Worldwidebrands.com, the image itself will change. However, the image size, color scheme, and general message will remain the same so that it does not interfere with the design of your website. We have a full graphics team that is designing new banners and images. If you like what's been offered so far in these newsletters, then you'll like what's coming up November 1st.
Question # 7: What will I need to do?
On November 1st, go to our website (www.worldwidebrands.com) and select Affiliates. This will take you to the Affiliate Center. From there you can browse through all the new material and code. From here you can use the new Banner Tool and Custom Text link Tool to get your new code to update your websites. You can also Login to your affiliate account from the Affiliate Center. Your Login Information will remain the same. In your account, you can browse around all the new features and start setting up subids. You will need to make sure your contact information is up to date.
I will send out another Affiliate Newsletter with more details about the upgrade closer to November 1st. As always if there are any questions or concerns regarding the upgrade or the affiliate program in general, I am always available through email affiliatemgr@worldwidebrands.com or phone 877 637 6774 x 8123 |

PopUps: To Use or Not to Use is the Question?
If you use PopUps on your landing page to draw attention to a specific message or get traffic to opt-in to your list, give your customer at least 5-6 seconds to skim over the content in your site above the fold before showing them the Popup. Another good rule is to use Popovers instead of Popups, because they are allowed by Google. For those customers who turn off popups no matter what, you'll still want to include an inline opt in form. |
